Police in Kira Division is hunting for the driver of a tipper lorry Reg no. UAM 372L ISUZU FORWARD for causing a fatal accident that this afternoon that claimed the lives of 2 passengers.
The accident happened at Mbalwa after the driver reportedly trying to negotiate his way up a hilly road but instead rolled backwards and overturned, killing 2 people and critically injuring another.
ASP Luke Owoyesigirye the Kampala Metropolitan deputy mouthpiece says after realizing the magnitude of the accident, the unidentified driver who also sustained a broken arm ran away .
The deceased and the injured person are yet to be identified but their bodies have been taken to city mortuary Mulago for post morterm.
He adds that investigations are already underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
