The National Unity Platform vetting process continues to be marred by petitions and chaos a week after the exercise kicked off.

In Mukono district, the vetting process that should have ended on Sunday with the announcement of winners have since been extended as a result of deep-rooted disagreements among them.

So far the party has suspended results for vetted candidates in six electoral areas in Mukono municipality after citing mass irregularities in the process.

The affected areas include Nsuube-Kauga, Kirowooza ward, Seeta, Gwafu, and Namumira Parish in the Goma division.

The Municipal Party Registrar Richard Lugoloobi says these results were withheld after a section of the candidates petitioned the NUP head offices in Kamwokya, Kampala on grounds that there were favoritism and unbalanced selection of candidates by the vetting committee.

A section of the candidates claim the vetting committee is being diluted influenced by the Municipal MP Betty Nambooze who is fronting candidates, she crossed with from the Democratic Party to NUP against those who crossed from people power pressure group.
