As the struggle to speed up the allocation process of a 6.6 billion Uganda Shilling ($1.8M) COVID-19 relief fund that was received from the African Development Bank continues, artists such as Ykee Benda, Mun G and Nava Grey are banking good dimes from the new juicy mentorship deal from Uganda Waragi under their A Ka Dope Show sponsorship.

A Ka Dope is a multi-art show that launched an online talent search competition last month where 12 underground acts will perform alongside established artistes and stand a chance to win a fully-fledged recording deal. The competition dubbed the A Ka Dope Stars will run from September to December 2020.

Participants recorded and uploaded a 40-second video of themselves singing or rapping on their social media pages and encouraged their fans to repost, share and comment. Out of the submissions, the 12 best acts shall be shortlisted as semi-finalists and perform live with the A Ka Dope Band to compete for the grand prize – UGX 2 million cash and a recording deal with 101 Music.
