Kampala Anti-Corruption Court Grade One Magistrate‘s Court has today remanded a 34-year-old man to Kitalya government prison for stealing medical drugs totaling to 7 million shillings from Joint Medical Stores –JMS.
JMS is a private Ugandan Pharmaceutical store owned by the Catholic and Anglican medical departments.
The accused identified as Henry Ssenfuma was a medical representative at JMS by the time he was sent to prison.
The Kampala Anti-Corruption Court Grade One Magistrate Sarah Namusobya Mutebi charged Senfuma with 3 counts, one count of embezzlement and two other of forgery.
Court heard that on October 10th and 11th 2016 in Kampala, Ssenfuma while employed by Joint Medical Stores as a Medical Representative stole 800 packs of Ampicillin capsules valued at 4 million shillings which were a property of Joint Medical Stores to which he had access to by virtue of his office.
Court also heard that Ssenfuma allegedly forged another invoice for 600 packs of Ampicillin capsules worth three million shillings purporting that the same had been ordered for by Amigos Health Care services and supplies whereas not.
Ssenfuma has been sent to Kitalya Government’s prison until October 8 2020 when he will be appearing in court via video conferencing technology for mentioning of his charges and bail application.
