President Yoweri Museveni has maintained that UPDF officers in Parliament should remain silent.

President Museveni was Thursday officiating at the celebrations to mark the International Day of Older Persons at State House in Entebbe.

Museveni, however, picked out Lt Gen. Henry Tumukunde as a misrepresentation of the forces who he claims continues to talk.

The President said: “You don’t hear soldiers talking in Parliament except Tumukunde. We said just go to Parliament, listen and come tell us, don’t talk because we don’t want the civilians to know what we are thinking.”

Gen. Tumukunde has been vocal during the lockdown, castigating the measures put in place by government.

The former spy chief and minister for security announced his bid for the top job in the country in February.

Security arrested him and slapped charges of treason and unlawful possession of firearms as well as ammunition.

He was freed in May and is expected to contest against President Museveni in 2021 Presidential elections on an independent ticket.
