Police in Kole district is looking into an incident involving a 21 year old boy who reportedly hanged himself on a rope over beatings he suffered in the hands of his clan leaders.

Kenneth Ocen, a resident of Obeny Village in Alemi parish in Ayer Sub County was found hanging on a rope on around 3:00 pm on Friday inside an incomplete building near their homestead.

However, prior to his shameful beating, Ocen had been accused of being drunk on alcohol most of the time and smoking weed.

Tom Ebonga, the Obeny Village LC I Chairperson, says members of Atek-Opao-Yat clan decided to take matters in their own hands after Ocen’s parents accused him and his two brothers of conniving with drunkards involved in excessive alcohol consumption and marijuana smoking.

Shortly after he was clobbered many strokes, a distressed Ocen vowed before his friends to end his own life because his step mother instigated the beating and has constantly been mistreated by her.

David Otabong, the Kole District Police Commander, says the deceased’s body was handed to his relatives for burial since no much investigation is required into such incidents.
