The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer Patrick Amuriat has hit back at his critics for underrating his capacity to stand as president on the party ticket come 2021.
Amuriat defended himself as a strong and progressive person who will not be deterred by any form of criticism.
The presidential hopeful revealed that he has been under looked by many as someone who cannot speak for himself but also indicated that the impression of him is now altering as people’s perception towards him is positive.
While unveiling his campaign team ahead of the general polls at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi today, Amuriat accepted that his nature of politics has always been laid back as compared to being frontline.
‘’ Previously my politics has been kitchen politics where I do the cooking in the Kitchen and others serve, that does not exclude the fact that I make a contribution to what can be served on the dining table, I am happy with the amount of criticism that can be heaped on me but that will not deter me from making progress politically. ‘’Amuriat said.
He also said that despite him standing for the presidency in 2021, Dr.Kizza Besigye remains a big political drum in Uganda whose shoes are impossible for political actors to fit in.
While unveiling his campaign team ahead of the general polls at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi on Monday, Amuriat denied walking in the shadows of the political giant but said he has closely worked and associated with him, something many political actors have failed to do.
Amuriat has appointed the national chairman Waswa Biriggwa to lead the campaign team, Roland Kaginda Mugume as National field Coordinator, and Albert Okello Oduman the Executive Director campaign Burea.
He says this team is now tasked with the duty of constituting the campaign bureau, necessary structures as well as set up various fundraising platforms.
The complete campaign team shall be unveiled next week.
