The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)Flagbearer Patrick Amuriat Oboi is on Wednesday handing over to the electoral commission the required 100 signatures for the presidential nomination ahead of 2021 general polls.

In an official statement released by the FDC, they say a section of members will first meet at the party headquarters this morning and later proceed to the Electoral Commission headquarters.

Amuriat recently released a list of his campaign team ahead of the 2021 election named Wasswa Birigwa, the party national chairman as the head of his campaign team.

Amuriat has also named Roland Kaginda Mugume as national field coordinator and Albert Okello Oduman as the executive director of the campaign bureau.

He said the team is expected to set up a campaign bureau and other structures. The team will also help in setting up fundraising platforms to generate funds that will lubricate the gears that will run this campaign.

So far, only 14 aspiring candidates including National Resistance (NRM’s) Yoweri Museveni, Robert Kaygulanyi Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party, and Rt Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde, an independent, among others successfully presented their signatures last week.

The Presidential Elections Act requires aspiring candidates to collect 100 signatures from two-thirds of the total number of over 98 districts in the country as a requirement for their nomination.
