The government has confirmed that former UPDF Spokesperson Col Shaban Bantariza died of Covid19.
Col Bantariz died Tuesday morning at 2 am, at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he had been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit on Sunday.
Government spokesman Ofwono Opondo has announced on Tuesday morning that the hospital medics confirm that Bantariza indeed succumbed to the Covid19 virus.
“He had originally been admitted on Friday Mbuya Military Hospital, from where he was taken to Victoria and eventually transferred to Mulago after they suspected that he could have contracted Covid19,” Opondo said.
Opondo had earlier revealed at the Uganda Media Center that the deceased died of hypertension.
“Earlier he had been complaining of chest pain, low blood pressure, and cough,” Opondo said.
Opondo says Medical examinations carried out at Mulago hospital confirm that he contracted COVID-19.
