A 25-year-old man who tried to burn himself with Petrol at a police post in Buwama Mpigi has been remanded to Kitalya government prison on charges of attempted suicide.
Buwama Grade I Magistrate Sanula Namboozo remanded Jimmy Mukwaya for 2 weeks for attempting to burn himself in front of Buwama police station in Mpigi district.
Mukwaya for no particular reason reportedly stormed the police post and asked to be shot dead but was given no attention by the cops on duty.
A few minutes later, Mukwaya managed to buy at least 3 liters of petrol and a matchbox before returning to kill himself in front of the police post.
He proceeded to pour on himself the petrol while screaming insults at the cops attracting their attention.
The Cops who showed up in time stopped Mukwaya before he would light the matchbox to his death.
According to a statement recorded by the officer in charge of criminal investigations at Buwama station Paul Nabende, Mukwaya was then taken to court and presented before the magistrate who in turn remanded him to Kitalya prison until 10th of November when he will reappear for further mention of his case.
