National Unity Platform leader, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine has finally been cleared by the Electoral Commission.

Bobi wine joins the list of 9 other candidates who have been approved for nomination set for the 2nd and 3rd November 2020.

On Tuesday, the EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya revealed that they had cleared another set of 4 candidates in addition to the first group after doing the verification of signatures of supporters.

Therefore the EC has officially approved 10 of 22 presidential candidates who returned signatures to the electoral commission.

These include Yoweri Museveni, Henry Tumukunde, Patrick Amuriat Oboi of the Forum for Democratic Change, Mugisha Muntu Gregg, of the Alliance for National Transformation, Kabuleta Kiiza Joseph, Nancy Linda Nakalembe, and Fred Mwesigye, all independents.

All approved aspirants are issued certificates of compliance after verifying their supporters, Bukenya says the cleared aspirants are expected to present their certificates before the returning officers on Monday and Tuesday next week when nominations take place.

According to the Presidential Elections Act, a person qualifies to be a candidate after among others; having been supported by100 registered voters from two-thirds of all districts of Uganda. This translates to 98 districts and 9,800 voters.
