Presidential Candidate John Katumba has not been nominated to stand for presidency 2021 polls after he failed to meet the requirements by the EC.

The EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya says Katumba john failed to present the proof of payment of nomination fee which is 20 million shillings.

The EC cited lack of a Tax Identification Number (TIN) as the reason for failure to pay but was advised to return after paying the amount.

Prior to that, Katumba put up a dramatic scene when he run to the nomination venue on foot after his car broke down at Nakawa, the Car tyres punctured at a security roadblock

Katumba who was running against time was slated for Nomination at 2 pm, he decided to abandon his white van in the hands of security operatives and his entourage of 8 people before running at an Usein bolt speed to the nomination venue.

Katumba ran with only one person in the absence of his first proposer and seconder.

For a candidate to be nominated they need to have include 3 copies of nomination papers expressing his interest in vying for the presidency, proof of academic papers for O and A, proof of 1 proposer and Seconder to ensure they are registered voters among others 3 passport size photographs for the candidate and a fee of compliance from the EC among others.
