Lt Gen. (Rtd) Henry Tumukunde has criticized the whole process of nomination and campaigns as isolated and meant to distance opposition politicians mainly from engaging with their voters.

He accuses the NRM of holding processions while enjoying a wider political space compared to opposing candidates even after the Electoral Commission denying everyone the chance to.

Addressing journalists at his headquarters in Kololo ahead of his nomination this morning, Tumukunde says the opposition is being squeezed, denied the opportunity to reach the public that makes them doubt whether the election from being free and fair.

Tumukunde is expected to appear for his presidential nomination at 1 pm

He is currently on his way to Kyambogo grounds being escorted by two police patrol vehicles. The Presidential hopeful has moved with an entourage of 10 people as allowed by the Electoral Commission.

He moved with his wife and 8 other people.

Tumukunde says this is one of the most important elections and is encouraging the public to come out in large numbers to exercise their right.

According to the EC boss, Justice Byabakama who was speaking live from the nomination center a total of 10 aspirants who have been verified and cleared will and will be nominated between Monday and Tuesday.

So far Museveni Tuhaburwa Yoweri is the 1st candidate to be nominated by the EC.

Other candidates to be nominated today are former security minister Lt Gen. (rtd) Henry Tumukunde (independent)at 1 pm, Mugisha Muntu Gregg of the Alliance for National Transformationat 3pm, Nancy Linda Kalembe independent at 4 pm.
