Alliance for National Transformation ANT president Rtd Maj Gen Gregg Mugisha Muntu has accused security forces of being partisan in handling processions of presidential candidates.

The EC chief Byabakama on Monday again warned all candidates against holding processions to and from the nomination venue at Kyambogo University’s cricket grounds to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Muntu however says despite it being illegal to hold processions, the National Resistance Movement –NRM has defied the move yet security forces have failed to stop them.

NRM members were seen on Yusuf Lule road, Jinja Road, Nakawa, and Kyambogo on foot and motorized processions untouched.

This morning NRM youths from different divisions of Kampala clad in NRM party t-shirts, caps, and masks lined up along Spear Motors road to cheer on the president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as he was headed for nomination.

This contravenes the Electoral Commission and Police directives banning candidates from bringing along their supporters and staging any kind of procession.

Muntu, says President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling NRM party failed to lead by example when they acted that way.

He adds that security forces comprising military police, Special Forces Command, Field Force Unit and traffic just looked on as NRM supporters defied the Police and Electoral Commission guidelines.

Maj Gen Muntu will be nominated at 3pm under ANT.
