Businessman Mathew Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend Cynthia Munangwari got the embarrassment of their lives today after lawyers failed ditched them and failed to show up at the High Court in Kampala for the hearing.
Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend are facing murder charges for shooting dead a child rights activist Kenneth Akena who was shot dead about four years ago,.
The duo appeared before High Court Criminal Division Judge Stephen Mubiru alone, looking stranded after fidgeting to make numerous calls in vain.
They later spilled the truth to the judge saying efforts to get in touch with their lawyers hit a snug.
Kanyamunyu told the court that since the case was adjourned last time, the lawyers Caleb Alaka, Evans Ochieng and Macdusman Kabenga have neither met them in preparation for this trial nor been returning their calls.
Justice Mubiru gave the couple until Monday to resolve the issue with the lawyers or instruct new lawyers or notify the court’s registrar to be availed with a state-aided lawyer.
The case will now resume on November 9, 2020
