Police in Wakiso is investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl who was defiled and impregnated by a 21-year-old man.

Abasa Magret a resident of the Kagulube landing site in Wakiso district was strangled to death by her boyfriend after refusing to get rid of the pregnancy.

Musoke Lule Peter a fisherman who was reportedly responsible for the pregnancy rented out a house for Abasa after her parents threatened him to take care of their daughter.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson says the parents of the deceased threatened Lule to either take care of the pregnancy or they report the matter to police.

Enanga says Musoke killed Abasa because he was being forced to take care of pregnancy was not his.

He says late in the night on Monday, Musoke went to the rented house where Abasa was and strangled her thinking it was the best way of destroying the evidence that may show that the baby belongs to him.

Enanga says he also did this in order to avoid the responsibility that comes with the pregnancy.

Musoke is now being held under police custody where he will be charged with first-degree murder as well as sexual assault.
