The National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has exposed the police officer responsible for nearly choking him to death by treating him and his followers like chicken thieves during his arrival to Mbale for campaigns.

On Sunday, the opposition candidate pulled thousands of supporters when he arrived in Mbale, and this didn’t go down well with security forces.

Hardly had he reached the city center than police swung into action in Mbale, firing teargas, live bullets, and flogging the crowds who were forced to scatter into different directions.

The police and military arrested and beat up his supporters in advance of his huge planned rallies.

Bobi wine spoke shortly after the chaotic incident saying  a teargas canister was thrown inside the car in which they were traveling,

Bobi claims an  Assistant Superintendent of Police  led the operation and used pepper spray on him before throwing a canister inside his ride car as he looked on with satisfaction.

He says the police boss identifyed as Asiimwe also commanded other police cops to use extreme force on NUP supporters who were peacefully marching towards the meeting grounds at Mbale Municipal stadium.

“I can confidently say that the bulk of the officers are not hateful and don’t even like doing the kinds of things they do, but if you keenly observe these events, there is usually a clique of three to four people who give orders to their juniors to commit these crimes, and that small clique is never motivated by any law, but by hate and the desire to help [Incumbent President] Gen. Museveni keep a firm grip over our country which he thinks of as his empire”.

Police paraded armed police officers, anti-riot trucks, and staged roadblocks on all major roads leading to the town to block NUP presidential campaigns from happening at the Mbale Municipal stadium.

Two hours later, Bobi entered  the Mbale Stadium where thousands of his supporters were waiting for him, but this was soon blocked by Police because he was campaigning past the stipulated time
