The cop who was knocked by a careless Boda Boda rider at curfew time has succumbed to his nasty injuries.
Constable, Okwera Opobo Jacob, 34 attached to Jinja Road police station died at Naguru China Hospital on Monday.
Ruthless John Byamukama decided to ride his Bajaj boxer UEG 347/B, with 2 passengers at a breakneck speed when Okwera ordered him to stop along with the Jinja road checkpoint.
Police say Byamukama intentionally run over the cop and in the process injured the 2 passengers as well.
ASP Luke Owoyesigirye, the Kampala metropolitan deputy mouthpiece says Byamukama now faces murder charges at Jinja Road Police Station and his file is being processed to have him produced in court
“We have also taken note of the indiscipline by motorists whenever they reach police manned checkpoints,” said Owoyesigyire. “In many circumstances, our officers have been run over and they sustain injuries or get killed.
