Sports club Vipers lost 1-0 to Sudanese side Al Hilal in the first leg of the Confederation Of African football Champions League Preliminary round at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Al Hilal’s lone goal was scored by Bakhet Hamid in the 26th minute, scoring from close range with Vipers defense lacking enough game reading to clear the ball.

The venoms only chance in the first half came through Karim Watambala who tried to shoot the ball outside the 18 yard box.

Vipers almost got a penalty after their striker Cesar Manzoki had the appeal waived when he was tripped in the area but almost had no impact throught in a game.

Vipers dominated the game majorly in the second half after Fred Kajoba made changes in his team when he brought in David Bagoole, Paul Mucureezi, Ibrahim Orit and Dan Sserunkuuma.

Al Hilal played with maturity in the first half before willingly sitting at the back in the second half where Vipers tried to perform to their best.

Winner over the two legs will face Asante Kotoko of Ghana or Mauritania’s Nouadhibou at the next stage
