Six naughty suspects have been thrown into police cells for defacing NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni’s campaign posters.

The group went on a rampage pulling down posters along the streets of Majanji road and Tororo road in Busia town.

ASP. Moses Kakiryo, the Busia district police commander declined to disclose the names of suspects says they are believed to be opposition-leaning.

He adds that it has become a habit for opposition fellows to bring down posters of candidates in the area.

Section 83 (2) of the Parliamentary Election Act 2001, states that “Any person who maliciously defaces or removes or tears any election poster of any nominated candidate commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding thirty currency points or imprisonment not exceeding one year or both.
