The 10-year-old boy met his ill fate when he had gone to fetch water from the dam with his siblings in Luweero on Tuesday morning.
The child identified as Ntege is a local from Gayaaza village in Butuntumula Sub County and it has always been a routine for his parents to send him and the siblings to draw water from the dam.
Ntege reportedly lost his stamina and stepped on a soft ground hence landing into the dam and drowning immediately.
The incident happened this morning in Gayaaza village in Butuntumula Sub County.
According to preliminary information, ten-year-old Ntege lost balance and fell in the dam after stepping on soft ground.
Salim Zimula Sserunkuuma, the Kakabala Parish Councilor, says the deceased’ tried in vain to rescue himself by swimming through the water but the waves were too thick for his tiny body.
He adds that they were notified of the sad incident by friends to the deceased who rushed and reported the incident.
Abraham Tukundane, the Luweero District Police Commander says that he is yet to receive the information on his desk.
