A 28year old fraudster in police custody is being investigated for swindling over 500 million shillings in fake Gold transactions at the Criminal Investigations Directorate-CID headquarters.
Odaka Jimmy-alias Governor a resident of Mirumu Town Council in Abim District was busted on the 8th Feb.2021 from his hideout in Soroti.
Twine Charles, the CID Spokesperson, says Odaka has been on the most wanted list for months now for over 70 case files reported against him in Abim and Soroti respectively.
His arrest comes shortly after one Boniface Mumbere, a businessman in Soroti filed a case pinning Odaka in fraud amounting to the loss of 85m.
Odaka has reportedly confessed to committing fraud, but claims that the money received was shared by several people whose contacts he can’t trace.
Twine now says his department has widened its scope of the investigation to provide enough evidence to prosecute the suspect.
“Our teams are still carrying out deeper investigations as the files are processed for prosecution,” Twiine Charles said.
