The legal team to the National Unity Platform-NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is meeting with the 9 justices from the supreme high court to amend their application in the election petition case challenging the victory of president Yoweri Museveni in the recently concluded polls.
Bobi Wine is challenging the outcome of the 2021 presidential polls that saw the Electoral commission-EC declaring NRM candidate Yoweri Museveni as the winner after polling 5,300,831 votes (58%) while Bobi Wine got 3,119,965 votes (34.62%).
His lawyers led by Medard Segonna, Antony Wameli among others are interfacing with the Supreme court justices led by Chief Justice Alphonso Owiny Dollo to make a case for new evidence.
Segonna says the amendment stands on the grounds that Bobi wine was put under house arrest subjecting him to post-election.
detention trauma that blocked him from putting together the petition he needed to.
They are asking the supreme court to grant him his application in the interest of justice, equity, and fairness
Segona says their client needs the court to inquire into the election and make a statement.
Respondents to the petition including the legal team representing the 2nd respondent -EC like Joseph Matsiko, Okello Oryem, and Eric Sabiiti.

The 1st Respondent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni also has representatives including Kiryowa Kiwanuka advocates and Ebert Byenkya.
The attorney general William Byaruhanga and his legal team are also present in court.
Museveni’s lawyers are making a case for no petition amendment at the supreme court on grounds that the time frame given under the rules of the Supreme Court is not specific enough to provide for amendments, yet the pre-hearing is of the main petition is due on Thursday this week.
In his petition, Bobi wine argues that the elections were conducted outside the confines of the law and he is seeking nullification and re-election to take place.
NUP listed 26 grounds including ballot stuffing, intimidation of NUP agents and supporters, and pre-ticked ballot papers.
This comes ahead of the pre-hearing set for Thursday this week with all the 9 justices
The Thursday meeting is meant to harmonize outstanding issues before a hearing date is set.
The pre-hearing is also meant to discuss timelines within which both parties can file their submissions to the justices ahead of the hearing date.
