Police in Mpigi is looking into circumstances under which 15 dead bodies were thrown at Busese A village in the Nkozi sub-county.

It is alleged that the corpses wrapped in backcloth were on transit from Kyengera to Busese village for burial courtesy of one woman identified as Aisha Kwagala.

Lydia Tumushabe, the police spokesperson for the Katonga Region, says the remains of the 15 people were rejected by Kwagala’s landlord who refused to accommodate the bodies at his houses hence ordering her to return the bodies.

“This was however rejected by the landlord who forced Kwagala and her team to carry their bodies back. It’s believed that the remains were later brought back deep in the night and dumped in Busese village where they had already prepared for burial and they just left them unburied,” Tumushabe noted.

Tumushabe however says that Kwagala and her team were adamant and stealthily returned in the night with the corpses dropping them in half dug graves that were left open.

She adds that the bodies were later removed from the open graves and dumped on the bare ground ,compelling police to pick and transfer them to Gombe hospital.

Police have now launched a hunt for Kwagala and her team who run away after disposing of the bodies.

“The suspects are at large but inquiries into the offence of disturbing the peace of the dead registered under Nkz CRB: 005/2021 at Nkozi police station,”Tumushabe noted.
