Wives and relatives to the 36  jailed NUP supporters cannot hold back their tears as the reality of their people being locked away even longer dons on them.

This is after the general court-martial at Makindye barracks chaired by  Lt Gen Andrew Gutti has dismissed a  bail application filed by them.

The 36 including NUP President’s close associates Ali Bukeni aka Nubian lee and Edie Mutwe have been sent back to the coolers at Kitalya and Kigo government prisons as the hearing of their case will go on.

It was a somber mood at court as women were seen crying their eyes out as if they had lost their loved ones, it seemed like a funeral ground.

Lt Gen Andrew Gutti in his ruling says their bail application has been dismissed because the group risks inciting violence if set free.

Last week, the army prosecutors led by Capt. Ambrose Guma asked the General Court Martial not to grant bail to Nubian Li, Eddie Mutwe, and 34 others after expressing security fears and said it would be wise to keep them in custody.

The Makindye-based General Court Martial only granted a non-cash bail of 20 million to 13 suspects that needed medical attention after they fulfilled all the requirements and presented sureties under tight conditions.

The prosecution alleges that all the 49 suspects and others still at large on January 3, at Makerere Kavule Kigundu zone, were found in possession of four rounds of ammunition which is a monopoly of the Defense Forces.
