Mobile Money Agent Shot Dead

Police in Entebbe are investigating a case of murder involving a mobile money agent, who was gunned down by unknown assailants and robbed of an unspecified amount of money.

Gian Nambi met her death at Nalugala in Katabi Town Council at 8:50 pm just at the entrance of her home.

Henry Galiwango, the LC I Chairman Nalugala village, says Nambi was shot in the back twice, and once on one of her fingers and the thugs that killed her ran away after.

Galiwango says she was found with an open padlock in her hand indicating that she had just opened the door to her house when she was shot by the goons .

Locals claim they heard a woman yelling for help before 3 gunshots were fired and the footsteps of people running in dead silence confirmed to them it was an incident of murder.

Meanwhile, Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson says the deceased’s body is currently lying at Mulago city mortuary and this is a case of aggravated robbery and murder and that police officers have commenced investigations.

Between January to October 2019, police recorded over 50 armed robberies of mobile money agents across the country including areas in Wakiso district. Ten mobile money agents were killed during these robberies.
