UPDF Soldiers Injured in nasty car accident…

A hunt has been launched for the driver of a Prado ride Reg no, UBC 391D who was involved in an accident along Tirinyi road that claimed the lives of at least 20 UPDF officers.

The accident happened at Nabiswa village, along Tirinyi road in Kibuku District on Monday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses at the scene say the soldiers were traveling in a TATA truck H4DF2318 from Mbale to the Peace support training center in Singo when the speeding Prado rammed into their ride.

Most of the soldiers were left nursing serious injuries as the driver of the Prado whose identities are still unknown stormed out of his car and run away.

The UPDF spokesperson for Bukeddi, Elgon, and Sipi, Lieutenant Jude Wandera, says the accident was a result of reckless driving on the part of the Prado driver.

He says that all the 20 UPDF soldiers survived the accident with injuries including fractures and have been taken to Mbale regional referral hospital for further management.

He adds that a hunt is ongoing for the Prado TX driver who was reportedly on the phone and absent-minded when he crossed his lane and collided with the UPDF truck.
