EC Boss Byabakama Accuses Bobi

The EC Chief Justice Simon Byabakama has issued a stern warning to the former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine to desist from misleading Ugandans with fake declaration forms.

On Tuesday Bobi wine paraded multiple files with hundreds of DR forms at his Kamwokya based head offices indicating that Museveni had lost in the recently concluded January 14 presidential polls.

Bobi wine announced that he had won the election with 54.19 percent of the total instead of the 34.5 that he was given by the electoral commission.

Speaking to journalists after appearing before the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament, on Wednesday Justice Byabakama said  Bobi wine is inciting the public by showing wrong results that he failed to present before the Supreme Court.

He claims Bobwine was already in possession of the right DR forms obtained by all his polling agents on election day and he should have presented them to the courts of law in time.

”What is the basis of his claim that he won the elections on account of what is contained in the DR forms he has, for us the DR forms  in our custody show a different picture, and if he claims that he won the elections premised on the DR forms he has, why didn’t he use the opportunity of the election petition to present the same DR forms” Byabakama questioned

He said by going to the court of public opinion as compared to the supreme court, Bobi wine mostly serves the purpose of inciting violence.

”What are the rules that govern that court of Public opinion, for me I am wondering what is the composition of that court of public opinion, what are the rules, how will they determine the matters that would have been determined by the supreme court and what would be the outcome, and how would be the implementation process. said Byabakama

This comes a day after Bobi called on his supporters to engage in peaceful demonstrations after he evoked article 29 b of the constitution of Uganda.
