In its official statement shared, FUFA explained that “Khalid Aucho refused to board the official means of transport organised to pick him from Entebbe International Airport to the team camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel-Kisasi and has not even reported to camp since his arrival in the country”, forcing them to take due action to discipline.

However, FUFA’s clarification did not convince NUP darling, Bobi Wine in anyway. Like he always do, Bobi rushed to his socials and claimed that Aucho was simply paying the price for openly associating with him in public.

“I have learnt about the dismissal of Khalid Aucho from our national football team, the Uganda Cranes, in the run-up to next week’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Burkina Faso and Malawi,” said Bobi Wine.”

“Our football authorities claim Khalid was dismissed for alleged indiscipline. The midfielder has in recent times distinguished himself as an athlete who is conscious of the injustice orchestrated against his fellow citizens by the State and its institutions. He has been using social media channels to speak out against this injustice with the victims. It is unfortunate that he is now the latest victim of the State’s persecution of those that stand with the people. Take heart brother Khalid, it will be over soon,” he concluded in a post which attracted massive debate from Netizens. Some rallied behind the former presidential candidate and other bashed him, claiming FUFA’s disciplinary action towards the player was justifiable.

However after perhaps realizing his massive blunder, Bobi Wine has since taken down the post.

Meanwhile, Khalid Aucho who plies his trade in Egypt has already issued a public apology via his Facebook page, owning up his mistake.
