Police in Rukungiri District have started investigating the death of a senior 4 girl who was found dead in a stream.
Brenda Ankunda’s lifeless body was found at Kahengye stream on Wednesday,2 days after she dissapeared from home.
According to her parents ,Ankunda a resident of Bugangari sub- County ,left home on Monday morning to seat for her final paper at Rukungiri High School but didnt return home.
The school authorities claim Ankunda was never spotted at school after she appeared a week ago to do an Agriculture paper.
She was supposed to return Thursday this week to sit her Literature in Kiswahili exams but that never happened .
The headmaster Robert Mbasa says they tried to inquire from her parents why she didn’t turn up and were informed that she had left home for school on the 29th March 2021.
“We sent Brenda home last week to prepare herself with instructions that she would return this week for her last paper today (April 1). Today, we waited for her to show but by 11am she was nowhere to be seen,said the headteacher.
Ankunda’s parents say when they rushed to the police to file a complaint, they were told that a body that matches her description had already been discovered at the banks of the Kahengye stream.
The body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem as they waited for relatives to claim it.
However, the police are still investigating the circumstances under which she was killed.
