Kagadi Police Arrests 70

Police in Kagadi have arrested  70 people found drinking alcohol in bars on Easter day while defying COVID-19 guidelines.

The arrests followed a joint security operation carried out on Sunday night by the military and police.

The suspects who are currently being held at Kagadi central police station were busted in various bars at Muhoro, Mabaale, Kiryanga, and Kagadi town Council among other places.

Among them include bar owners and local leaders and prominent people in the district.

Joan Akello, the Kagadi District Police Commander-DPC says the suspects who breached curfew and illegally went to bars were found drinking beyond midnight.

She further states that the suspects will be charged under the Public Health Act.
