Lukwago was in the hospital on Monday afternoon after he suffered an anxiety attack during the requiem mass to honor the late archbishop of Kampala Dr.Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

He was assisted out by 2 men who moved with him from the VIP section where he was seated through a back door used by priests.

A statement from the office of the deputy mayor  Doreen Nyanjura says a medical report indicated that Lukwago ‘s blood sugar levels were low hence the distressing attack.

“While attending the requiem mass of the late Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the Lord Mayor felt some discomfort and requested his aide to drive him to Rubaga Hospital for a checkup,” Nyanjura said.

Lukwago was yesterday rushed to hospital from Rubaga Cathedral after collapsing during the mass to commemorate the life of Dr. Cyprian Lwanga, the former Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese.

Nyanjura explains that Lukwago is now stable and out of the hospital, getting enough rest.

”He was given first aid to which he responded very well. Consequently, he was discharged and advised to go home and rest. I have checked on him and he is doing quite well,” she added.
