UPDF Sign Former

UPDF Football Club have completed the signing of former SC Villa and KCCA defender Bernard Muwanga on a short term contract.

He has agreed to play for the the Army side until the end of this current season.

Confirming the signing, a delighted Kisala highlighted experience and quality as some of the many attributes that Muwanga will bring to his side.

” He is a big addition to the team. I am absolutely grateful to have him because we were lacking quality and experience in defence, perhaps that explains why we have leaked so many goals”.

Muwanga captained the Uganda Cranes in the 2018 CHAN tournament held in Morocco. He also played for SC Villa, Proline Football Club, Soltilo Bright Stars and KCCA Football Club.

He finds UPDF in the seventh position on the league table with 25 points from 16 games.

They play FUFA Big League Arua Hill SC tomorrow in the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Wednesday 7th-April at Barifa grounds in Arua.

Why Muwanga rejoined Bright Stars

Bernard Muwanga reunited with his childhood club Bright Stars FC, after sealing a loan move back to the club in January transfer window.

Muwanga joined Bright Stars after a torrid seven months at Stanbic Uganda Cup reigning champions Proline on loan from KCCA FC.

The former Bright Stars skipper was more than delighted to rejoin with a side he knows in and out and he believes it was a great move for him to revamp his career.

Muwanga was a key pillar in Bright Stars’ promotion campaign to the Uganda Premier League in 2013 before leading Uganda Cranes at the 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco.

His addition in the Paul Kiwanuka coached side will without a doubt add-in experience and leadership and will add much-needed solidity and experience to Bright Stars backline as they seek to avoid relegation this season.
