Missing Persons Are Hiding
The Minister of Internal Affairs Jeje Odongo has indicated that some of the missing people being reported by the National Unity Platform-NUP are actually hiding in villages.
Odongo made the statement while presenting to Parliament a statement on missing persons where he noted that out of the list of 423 people presented by NUP, they only know 58 of these who have been verified, on Thursday.
Odongo says that the 365 could not be verified because the people who provided the names did not indicate the time and location of the arrest.

He says information from intelligence indicates that these people could be hiding for fear of getting arrested.
He adds that from the November riots 1,035 suspects were arrested, 901 charged in court, 734 were remanded, 167 released on bail, 113 were released on police bond, 21 were cleared and released by police while 51 were convicted and sentenced.
The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga appealed to the government to restrain from violating rights when enforcing the law saying it is sad to be mentioned as a country that is leading in violence and brutality.
