Nsereko Blasts Nyanzi
The wheel of fortune has finally turned in favour of the incumbent Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammed Nsereko in a court battle against Fred Nyanzi Sentamu.
This follows a petition filed by Nyanzi who lost to Nsereko in the just concluded MP elections.
The Mengo magistrates ‘court has finally ordered Nyanzi to pay Nsereko Shs38.5m as costs following his petition for a recount of the votes.
In his petition Nyanzi had told the court the elections were marred by gross irregularities like inconsistencies in counting and tallying of votes, understating his votes, failure by the presiding officers to submit results from seven polling stations, among other concerns.
Nsereko Blasts Nyanzi
Mengo Chief Magistrate Esther Nansambu however threw out his petition saying her court had no jurisdiction to handle his grievances.She stated that the matters he was raising could only be tried and determined by the High court.
While appreciating the Court’s ruling an overjoyed Nsereko blasted Nyanzi on social media for insisting on fighting a losing battle.
”Court in Mengo has ruled that Nyanzi has to pay me costs of only Shs38.5m. Thank you, almighty God, for always fighting our battles. They use insults, we use brains,” Nsereko stated.
