Police has revealed that the fire that gutted Kings College Buddo was the handy work of an asornist.

On Tuesday morning, Grace girl’s dormitory fire that houses senior 3 and 1 students went up in flames destroying their property valued at millions of Shillings.

No student was injured as the fire is said to have broken out while they were attending morning preps in their classes.

Now, a report from the Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services shows that the fire was an act of arson.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan police mouthpiece says their investigations show that the fire started from a dormitory window where there is no electricity connection.

“We have ascertained that this should be treated as a suspected arson after getting information the fire could have started at a window, we are calling upon parents and administrators to remain calm as investigations go on , with an aim of ascertaining what the exact cause of the fire was,“

Owoyesigyire also revealed that they recorded statements from Key people at the school including administrators, teachers and students.

“We have recorded their statements but they were released on police bond. We cannot mention them now, but we have also retained one person to give him protection. He knows everything that transpired before the fire started, he is helping us with more information and as a witness,” Owoyesigyire said.

Hassan Kihanda from the Directorate of Fire and rescue services, who is heading the investigating team, says that their findings are not conclusive.
