Bobi Plot To Illegally Swear -in
Police have issued a stern warning to the National Unity Platform-NUP strongman Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine following reports he plots to swear in as president.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says they are ready to deal with Kyagulanyi and cancel all his illegal plans to hold a parallel ceremony.
Enanga adds that they landed on the information following intelligence-led information.
‘‘We have got information from our intelligence teams of one presidential candidate who plans to swear himself as president in Iganga, the one who says his victory was robbed. We know that such Kangaroo swearing-in is common with 1st runners up, it is an act of impunity that is illegal and treasonous.”Enanga warned.
Bobi To Illegally Swear -in
Enanga has warned the distressed to act maturely and concede defeat. He has also warned any other people who plan on aiding the parallel swearing-in that they risk being arrested as accomplices in a treasonous act.
“Even if they swear themselves in, they remain symbolic without any accompanying entitlement and is a waste of time. Any media houses, organizers, judicial officers, or any other person who participates in this parallel swearing-in ceremony should prepare to face consequences because it is illegal and treasonous.”
Enanga has also clarified that security has been tightened and police are working alongside other security agencies to ensure that there are no distractions on the swearing-in of President Museveni.
“We have conducted massive drills on how to counter all forms of threats and vulnerabilities. These include armed attacks, massive demonstrations, aggressive and provocative behavior against security personnel, blocking of roads with boulders and stones, deflating of tyres and blocking of VIPs,”Enanga said.
President Museveni will on Wednesday be sworn in for the sixth term after winning the January 14 polls by 58 percent.
However, Bobi wine has asked supporters to join him in reclaiming his “stolen” victory.
