Museveni Sworn In

It is all joy and jubilation at the Kololo ceremonial grounds as the country witnessed the swearing-in of president Yoweri Museveni was sworn in as the head of state .

Museveni has silenced his critics after being declared president of Uganda to lead the country for another 5 years after being in Power for 35 years.

Museveni arrived with his wife  Janet Kataha Museveni in the presidential motorcade at about 1050 am clad in a black suit and grey hat.

His wife Janet Museveni looked elegant as she wore a black a white checked long suit.

Shortly after the National anthems for Uganda and EAC,the president was ushered into the podium by the electoral commission boss Justice Simon Byabakama.

Justice Byabakama then invited chief Justice Alfonso Owiny Dollo to the same podium to start the swearing-in process.

Museveni took an oath of allegiance to the office at about 11;45 AM before the Chief Justice handed him the instruments of power including the national flag, Anthem, coat of arms, constitution of Uganda, presidential standard flag

After that the Chief of Defence forces David Muhoozi handed the president the instruments of National Defence as the Commander in Chief.

Museveni then proceeded to get a 21 Gun salute and inspect the guard of honour amidst cheers and ululations from the mammoth crowd.

The crowd was later treated to a brief jet entertainment with UPDF jets and fighters flying around the sky and the national Flag and East African Flag being brought down by drones and soldiers from the Jet.

Archbishop of Church of Uganda Kazimba Mugalu and Supreme Mufti of Uganda Sheik Ramathan Mubajje graced the event with prayers.

Arch bishop Mugalu based his sermon on the book of Psalms and 2nd Samuel 23:3 while Sheik Mubajje read the Koran 3:26.

Museveni was declared president-elect in January by the electoral commission after poling 58 percent of the valid ballots cast.

11 heads of state and 21 delegates from Africa and abroad have graced the event.
