Swearing-in Suspended

The swearing-in of the City Lord Mayor, Division Mayors and division councillors has hit a temporary snug after a National Unity Platform-NUP councillor was blocked from proceeding to take his oath.

The Councillor showed up clad in a red beret and making a statement cuffed in huge chains with a bib reading ‘Museveni Free political prisoners’.

NUP Councillor elect for Kampala Central Moses Kataabu took to the podium to take the oath with both his hands chained but was denied the chance to proceed.

Un bothered Kataabu was first told by those around him to unchain him self and remove the bib but he refused to listen.

This prompted the Resident City Commissioner -RCC Hud Hussein to order him to remove the chains or leave the podium.

Hud pointed at security personnel directing them to take Kataabu off the podium saying”He can’t swear in like this,

In the heat of the moment ,Kataabu was joined by his fellow NUP comrades to the podium who started chanting   “We are all prisoners of Museveni,

The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ayo Miriam Okello as the presiding Magistrate adjourned the swearing-in for an hour and exited her tent.
