Police in Soroti is holding a local man of God for preaching on he streets after he tested positive for the deadly COVID 19.
Pastor Francis Edulu, a resident of Abaango Village in Soroti district was grabbed by police cops after he gathered a large crowd around him while preaching.
Edulu who had just contracted Covid 19 was ordered by medics to self isolate for 14 days while gettting treated but he instead choose to defy the directive.
Edule instead stormed the City center for his usual prayers attracting a large crowd of people to listen to his message.
Edulu told the cops that he was asked by the holy spirit to preach in public .He also stated that he was masked and had advised his flock to do the same.
“ While preaching, I urged them to wear masks and keep a distance from each other because this virus is deadly. Their way of life prompted me to reveal my status to them”, he said.
Oscar Ageca, the Police Spokesman for East Kyoga Region says locals have made it a habit to visit pubs, bars, and over crowd at various trading centers as if the situation is normal.
He says police condemns these actions with the highest degree and has deployed cops at strategic points to deal with people defying the directives on Covid 19.
