Man Hacks Ex-Bonkmate
Police in Mbarara is investigating circumstances under which a man killed his bonkmate of 5years and tried to commit suicide.
Edson Mwebaze, 37, a resident of Kyantamba village in Bubaare sub-county handed himself to Bubaare Police station at 7 pm last night after failing to end his life.
Mwebaze reportedly used a panga to kill Judith Arinaitwe, 35, a resident of Kifufu village in Mbarara District.
Rwizi Region Police SpokespersonSamson Kasasira says Arinaitwe was hacked several times to the head and arms with a panga.
Mwebase and his ex had been separated for months since February 2021 following reports of domestic violence.
Arinatwe had reportedly since moved on to another man and settled there.

However ,Mwebase told the police that Arinaitwe had runaway with their working capital of 350,000 Shillings, merchandise and property generated during marriage.
Kasasira says police has recovered the used panga as an exhibit and murder weapon.
Mwebase has now been transferred to Mbarara central police station while the body of the deceased lies at the Mbarara City Mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
According to the annual crimes report, Rwizi region registered 972 domestic violence cases for the year 2020. A total of 17,664 cases of Domestic Violence were reported to the Police compared to 13,693reported in 2019.
