Man Drops Dead

Locals in Namuwongo Kampala are still grieving the loss of a man who suddenly dropped dead after going days without food or water.

The deceased has been identified only as Kanyamunyu a porter working at the Industrial area in Kasanvu zone, Namuwongo in Makindye Division, a suburb of Kampala.

Locals claim prior to his death, a frail-looking Kanyamunyu had started a door-to-door campaign begging for food since he stopped working.

The area LC 1 Richard Biresho, says Kanyamunyu stopped earning a living when the president ordered a 42-day lockdown, to contain a second covid19 wave.

Biresho says last night at about 7 pm, Kanyamunyu collapsed at his office while seeking food and water after days of extreme starvation.

Police were immediately alerted of his condition but by the time they arrived and rushed him to the hospital, he was already dead.

Joseph Karugaba, the Officer in charge of Kisugu police post, which is under the Kabalagala police station says they are waiting for the postmortem from Mulago city mortuary to establish the cause of death.

The government will on Thursday this week commence the distribution of relief cash via mobile money to 16 categories of vulnerable persons in Cities and municipalities countrywide.

54 billion Shillings had been earmarked for the exercise. Each vulnerable person is expected to get receive Shillings 100, 000 via mobile money.
