Relief Cash

The government has revealed that by Thursday this week, distribution of cash relief packages will be done to mobile phones of the listed categories.

The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Betty Amongi explained to journalists at the Uganda Media Centre today that that payment had been delayed as a result of the process of updating and entering the data system of beneficiaries.

Therefore, the delay in payment which should have begun today had been occasioned by some of those issues of data,“When we get this data from Kampala by end of this day, we will be able to reach 50% a total number of over 50% of the total targeted number that we expect. By tomorrow morning, we expect that over 70% of the entries from across the country will have been uploaded onto the system.”said Amongi.

The top two Municipalities and Cities that had loaded the most data was Gulu with 4091 beneficiaries followed by Kira Municipality which had 1,316,” said Amongi.

She says by Thursday this week the exercise will officially be launched by Prime Minister Hon Robinah Nabbanja by 10 am before the distribution starts.
