Ugandans have been left wondering whether they will receive mobile money messages on their phones starting today or wait another week.
This follows conflicting reports from the office of the prime minister -OPM and state Minister for Gender over when the 16 vulnerable categories of persons will receive their monies.
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja assured the public that by 10 am today the distribution of the much-anticipated funds’ will kick off.
However,the State Minister for Gender, Charles Engola told Mp’s on the Covid 19 National taskforce team that the program had been postponed to next week in the interest of verifying the lists of vulnerable persons to receive the money.
But despite Engola’s arguments, his senior states otherwise.
Amongi has come out to categorically maintain her word that the disbursement of 100,000 shillings cash will take effect today.
In a tweet, Amongi stated that everything is going according to plan.
“The payment of the Covid relief funds will commence tomorrow, Thursday, July 8, 2021, as earlier scheduled,” the ministry, Several cleaned lists have been received from across the country, the online payment system is up and running, the funds are available, and therefore payment will go on,” she said in a tweet.
She says much as validation is still ongoing, those that have submitted their list to the ministry, s will receive their relief starting today.
“This will be a continuous process through next week. But we will ensure to reach as many people that need the fund as is.”
