Sure Events boss curses mafias for reportedly hijacking Promoters’ stimulus fund
A week ago, music promoters who were affected by the lockdown received their COVID-19 relief fund from Government in Gulu.
Among the promoters who reportedly got this money is Kavuuma of KT Promotions.
The promoters were reportedly tasked to produced evidence that their shows were canceled which they did thus the right to get compensated.
These promoters received UGX 300 Million and were distributed among only 8 people.
However, Sure Events boss, one Ismail claims a number of mafias made their way to the list yet they are not promoters.
According to a post on his social media platforms, Ismail claims he was sidelined and replaced with unknown people yet his company is fully registered and employs over 50 Ugandans on top of having evidence of loss incurred due to the lockdown.
He now demands justice and transparency from the Government.
Ismail’s company Sure Event is famously known for managing musicians like Nina Roz and Jowy Landa on top of putting together the stage and lighting at NBS TV’s entertainment shows KatchUp and SNL.
This is not the first time event promoters are complaining about Mafias in their industry. Stimulus have come and disappeared within a few of the promoters.
