Gov’t has directed the replacement of names whose identification details have errored several times in receiving the COVID 19 cash.

With just 48 hours left to the end of the 42-day lockdown, town clerks from various cities and municipalities have been ordered to identify 34000 fresh beneficiaries to receive Covid 19 relief cash.

This comes after the data system used by the ministry of gender consistently rejected the names on grounds that their mobile numbers and national identification details were no match.

Ministry of Gender permanent secretary Aggrey Kibenge said on Tuesday that out of 78000 names,44,000 were approved following re-verification leaving 34000 with failing still.

Kibinge says;”44000 have been revalidated and reuploaded for payment by town clerks”beneficieries will be verified and cleared again,we have asked town clerks to do so by end Tuesday”.

Kibengs says the affected names are largely from the Kampala metropolitan area .

Early this month,Govt released 53.5 billion shillings to be disbursed accross 501,107 households countrywide in a bid to provide assistance to persons affected by the 42 day lockdown.

So far ,467,107 households have received the 100000 relief cash while 34000 others remain pending.
