6095 students and pupils will have to find new schools after owners of 28 schools have put them up for sale.

President Yoweri Museveni last Friday partially opened the country after 42 days in lockdown. President Museveni, however, did not flag off schools, bars, gyms and places of worship.

The President’s directive left pupils and students stuck at home. Schools continue to remain shut with the directive. The inactivity leaves many school owners grappling with financial obligations among them being refinancing loans and maintaining school costs.

Amidst the continuing shutdown of schools, several schools according to an online study have been put up for sale. Online shopping market Ujiji Uganda has 28 schools all put up for sale.

The price being quoted on the advertising is in billions for most of them. The mindboggling question is whether or not the buyers of these schools will maintain the line of business. And if not, pupils and students have a bleak future with their current schools.

A quick calculations shows the sale of the named schools below leaves over 6000 pupils and students stranded. They will have to look for new schools.
