Deputy Speaker Anitah Among Tuesday afternoon told off opposition MP Ibrahim Ssemujju over his remarks on President Yoweri Museveni during house plenary session.

The deputy speaker who chaired the Plenary sitting and witnessed Muruli Mukasa, the Minister for Public Service take oath as an Ex-officio MP, did not allow Ssemujju to get away with his statement.

Among directed the remarks by Ssemujju Nganda, MP Kira Municipality, that “the President has failed to manage COVID19” be expunged from Parliament record (Hansard).

Ssemujju’s remarks stem from a motion by the deputy speaker to thank President Museveni on his ‘clear’ state of the nation address.

Among stated: “House will consider a motion to thank the President for the clear and precise exposition of gov’t policy contained in Address on the State of the Nation By H.E President to Parliament on Friday 4th June, 2021. The Leader of Opposition in Parliament will have a right of reply.”

The Deputy Speaker also informed the Members that House will take a short break from 5th to 17th August 2021 to allow the MPs to ascertain the use Emyooga funds and report back to Parliament.

Among deferred the Debate of the report on the Task Force on COVID19 response to Thursday, 05 August 2021.

The Deputy Speaker in the same breathe congratulated @joshuacheptege1, Jacob Kiplimo winning Silver and Bronze medals respectively at the #TokyoOlympics2021.

She has equally applauded the rest of the team representing Uganda at the #TokyoOlympics2021.
