It’s been days past the lockdown and the government is yet to fully deliver on its promise of sending Prime Minister, PM’s Nabbanja’s relief cash to vulnerable groups.

Gov’t says it is yet to conclude the disbursement of relief funds to beneficiaries whose registration details had errors.

468,906 out of 501,107 persons have received their cash via mobile money, leaving out a minimal number.

The individuals received Shs 100.000 each promised to them by the office of the prime minister-OPM through the Ministry of Gender, Labor, and Social Development.

Ministry of Gender mouthpiece Frank Mugabi, says this group had registered discrepancies in their registration details.

Mugabi says most names had mismatches in their National Identification Numbers-NIN or phone numbers didn’t match their NIN details.

He explains that the initial batch of persons whose details were rejected earlier was handled

”We had a category that had details that were not matching, these were over 80,000 by last week, but the Town Clerks have done a good job rectifying these and now we have about 9000 that are pending to be cleaned up.

Initially, 80,000 people had been rejected by the systems after they found discrepancies in their NIN, names, and mobile phone numbers, but Mugabi says this has been handled to the extent that only 9,000 are still pending.

He adds “In terms of payments, we have paid over 468,906 through their mobile phones, that leaves us with very few people to be entered into the system and get paid.
