Masaka Murder Victims

President Yoweri Museveni has met with families and relatives of victims attacked by Machete-wielding ‘pigs’ in the greater Masaka region.

30 people have been hacked to death and several others left injured following attacks from the vicious assailants.

Museveni invited a group of about 20 persons including elderly women, men, breastfeeding, and pregnant wives to the statehouse.

He promised to clean out the gang that has given greater Masaka locals sleepless nights .

He said:’‘ I met & commiserated with families that lost relatives in the senseless attacks by the cowardly pigs being called the Bijambiya gang. Some have been arrested because they left all sorts of clues that we are following. The message to these cowards is that we shall get all of you.”

The group implored the president to lift the curfew which they said has given an opportunity to the gang to sneak into people’s homes and attack locals.

They also raised issues like lack of electricity, closure of institutions of learning, and places of worship as some of the reasons crime is on the increase.

They explained that the above situations have led to idleness among the population and abuse of drugs hence crime.

Museveni replied;’‘ if we open now without vaccination, we shall have more issues.”

He further explained;” We put curfew to stop illness, but we cannot stop people from defending themselves, many people died including Ms. Mubanda, Ms. SsentongoWe have lost about 3000 people although other countries have lost more”.
